IBMA Awards Show on WYEP - 10/28

The 2012 IBMA Awards Show will be broadcast on WYEP 91.3 & WYEP HD1, Pittsburgh PA - streaming http://wyep.org, this Sunday 10/28 at 10:00pm, in place of Traditional Ties.

If you have never experienced the broadcast before some explanation is helpful.
First of all this is an edited version of the live show which was approx 3 hours long.
No awards or musical performances are missing. Time is saved by cutting out the waiting time between the announcement of the various winners and their arrival on stage to accept. (The winners are not waiting on stage for their names to be read, but it can seem that way because of the editing,)
Time  is also saved by editing acceptance speeches.

Regular programing will resume next week.

Ed Michaels, Obit

I know this is a little late but nothing was published prior to visitation and services, but I know many will find the information interesting. I thought I knew him well but there is much that I was not aware of.

Michaels, Edward W. 75

Fawn Township

Edward W. Michaels, 75, of Fawn Township, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, doing what he loved, tending to his campground. He was born July 2, 1937, in Elmira, N.Y., a son of the late Warren and Miriam (Savage) Michaels, and resided in Fawn Township most of his life. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a general manager by Penn Allegheny Coal Co., where he worked for 30-plus years. He was a former member of Golden Panthers, International Bluegrass Music Association. He was a 1958 University of Pittsburgh graduate, and attended Pitt Dental School. He served as co-captain of the Pitt Panthers. In 1958, Vince Lombardi personally came to his employer, David Tesone, to recruit Ed for the Green Bay Packers. Mr. Tesone replied, "Ed already has a job." The Media guide from his senior year said that Ed never quits, and this was found to be true throughout his life. For those who were close to Ed knew he could always be found working on a project in one of his infamous "green suits." After his retirement, he and his wife, Francine, organized bluegrass festivals at the site of their log home and campground for 18 years. When the festivals ended, he continued working every day taking care of his campers. Survivors include his beloved wife, Francine R. (Doshen) Michaels, of Fawn Township; a son, Todd Tesone Michaels, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Donna (Melvin) Bouchat, of Saxonburg; four granddaughters, Ronda (Vincent) Rodi, Casey Porter, Rachelle Bouchat and Jamie Porter; a great-granddaughter, Lola Rodi; a sister, Laurie Clark, of Elmira, N.Y.; and a brother, Ken Michaels, of Pine City, N.Y. Relatives and friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in the funeral home by Chaplain Tom Hutcheson. Private burial Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of his favorite charities: Salvation Army, Wounded Warriors or Smile Train. Visit http://www.dusterfuneralhomeinc.com.
