Lonesome River Band's No Turning Back Album Hits #1

The Lonesome River Band’s 12th album, “No Turning Back” on Rural Rhythm Records, has turned out to be the perfect dozen for the band as it jumped to #1 on Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 10 Albums this month. The album also remains in Billboard Magazine’s Top 50 Bluegrass Albums (retail sales) and climbs other charts including Cashbox Magazine’s Top 25 CDs, Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 15 Albums and hits the #7 spot on Sirius Radio’s Top 40 Artists.

The Bluegrass Journal gives high praises to the album saying, “If you have the volume on your CD player turned up before you put No Turning Back in for a spin, be forewarned: Rickman’s driving rhythm guitar, which starts the CD’s opener, Them Blues, is going to snap you awake. It’s about as powerful as it gets with an acoustic rhythm guitar being slammed through its paces." Fans certainly agree as their radio requests have helped land the current single, “Them Blues” at #2 on Sirius Radio’s Top 40 Songs, #3 on Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 30 Hot Single Chart and #21 on Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 30 this month.

The critics agree Lonesome River Band’s line-up of Sammy Shelor, Brandon Rickman, Mike Hartgrove, Andy Ball and Mike Anglin is one of the best LRB configurations with Country Standard Time saying, “Vocally and instrumentally, LRB remains one of the strongest bands around,” and Today’s Country Magazine declaring “their lineup stands to be one of the best…”
The Lonesome River Band continues to be extremely popular on the festival and concert circuit and begin their 2009 Tour next month in Granville, Ohio at Denison University. Charlie Hall from WCYO Radio recently interviewed Sammy Shelor and has also attended LRB's live shows. He feels, LRB has “captured the red hot drive from their stage shows and recorded it on their new Rural Rhythm release."
