Hickory Fest was founded in the year 2001 to bring some of the world’s best musicians to the hills of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Thanks to the support of our dedicated audiences, the artists, our many volunteers, and the community, this vision is now a reality. Hickory Fest has gained national recognition among artists and audiences for its outstanding performances and scenic venue.
Past performers at the festival include Peter Rowan, Tony Rice, David Bromberg, John Cowan, Vassar Clements, Verlon Thompson, Cadillac Sky, The Rowan Brothers, The Duhks, Karl Shiflett, Alecia Nugent, The Biscuit Burners, Jesse McReynolds & the Virginia Boys, Tony Trischka and Skyline, Claire Lynch, Missy Raines, Jim Hurst, Jeremy Kittel, Creaking Tree String Quartet, Big Leg Emma, Angel Band, Slip Stream, The Grass Is Dead, Hickory Project, and many many more great acts.
This year the sounds of Music In The Canyon will be heard at the Eighth Annual Hickory Fest to be held on August 14-16, 2009 at the Stony Fork Creek Campground in Wellsboro, PA. More than twenty exciting acts will perform the finest in bluegrass and acoustic music in a beautiful wooded outdoor setting nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon region, in Tioga County, in the PA-NY Twin Tiers region.
More than 30 hours of music will be performed during the three-day event with exceptional sound production provided by Cobra Sound. The music starts at 11am on Friday and continues through Sunday evening until 6pm. An assortment of original crafts will be displayed, and a wide variety of foods will be available for purchase all three days. Stony Fork Creek Campground is a full-service campground located 6 miles south of beautiful historic Wellsboro, PA, about 45 miles north of Williamsport, PA and 45 miles south of Corning, NY. There is plenty of camping available with many wooded sites.
