NEWBURYPORT — Music-based radio stations and the artists they play have a symbiotic relationship — they rely on each other.
A bill before Congress tries to quantify that value. Which is more important: music to those radio stations, or the promotion those stations provide to the music?
Recording companies argue that they increasingly provide more value to the radio stations, and that their music also gains promotion on other media, from satellite radio to downloadable digital music Web sites.
