Review: 3 bands show kids how good life can be at Bluegrass Classic

A bluegrass music life insurance policy of sorts walked the grounds as the 25th annual Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Bluegrass Classic continued in the Hoover Y-Park last night: Two high-school age guys carried a banjo and mandolin in the audience, rather than texting friends as they passed time; a just-teen girl - likely a fan of Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent - cradled her mandolin lovingly as she walked past the merchandise booths.
Like other youngsters at the festival, they may have stayed up unusually late jamming around a campfire with musicians three times their age.
Seven-year-old Kyle Ramey took his talent to the stage, lending a smoking mandolin solo to the Grascals' set. Read more...
